Bangui Windmills and other Breathtaking roadside views on the way to Pagudpud

Below are some photos taken on our road trip from Laoag to Pagudpud during a 2 hour drive inside a cramped non-aircon bus. But outside are endless views of  fantastic sceneries, more like larger than life masterpieces. Most notable of all is the province's most famous tourist spot, the first ever wind farm in the Philippines and also the biggest in Southeast Asia, the NorthWind Bangui Bay Project popularly known as the Bangui Windmills.

Last March 17, 2011, Ayala Corporation said that it bought 50% stake of Ilocos Wind Farm from NorthWind, the company that operates the 33 megawatt  wind farm. Zobel de Ayala said, "We believe there are opportunities to make early stage investments in the renewable energy space, which may have the potential to grow over time given the need to develop alternative sources of energy. In addition to our wind and solar initiatives, we are also developing platforms for hydro electric power."

The farm has 20 wind turbines and was the first commercial wind farm ever established in Southeast Asia. Aside from energy source, these windmills are now one of the town's major tourist attraction.

It was already nearing night time when we arrived in Saud, too late to hit the beach but just right on time to capture this glorious sunset.
